Department: Heat Treatment & Metallurgical Processing

Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 3–12 years (Junior and Senior levels considered based on experience)

Industry: Automotive Fasteners, Precision Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing

Preferred Knowledge/Application Criteria:

Process & Production Control

• Developing and executing heat treatment plans in coordination with PPC.
• Working with SCADA-based systems for batch creation, recipe selection, and real-time process monitoring.
• Managing critical heat treatment parameters such as temperature, soak time, and quench conditions within tolerance limits.

Quality & Inspection

• Performing in-process and interval-based inspections using hardness testers, microscopes, and metallurgical instruments.
• Documenting and maintaining batch-wise records related to hardness, case depth, and microstructure verification.

Operational Efficiency

• Monitoring Furnace OEE and implementing measures to minimize downtime and reduce job changeover times.
• Tracking energy, gas, and consumable consumption to optimize furnace efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Supporting preventive maintenance activities in collaboration with the maintenance department.

Training & Compliance

• Conducting on-the-job training for supervisors and operators on process adherence, safety practices, and documentation standards.
• Ensuring disciplined implementation of 5S, housekeeping, and visual factory standards in the heat treatment area.
• Maintaining ERP entries, SCADA logs, and all relevant documentation in line with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.

Preferred Technical Exposure

• Experience operating Mesh Belt, Shaker hearth, etc
• Familiarity with processes like Carburizing, Carbonitriding, Annealing, Tempering, Stress Relieving, and Quenching.
• Worked with materials such as 10B21, SCM435, 42CrMo4 and property classes 8.8, 10.9, 12.9.
• Ability to interpret metallurgical reports, case depth requirements, and control charts.
